In it’s third year, Sharing Innovation has become a national gathering of community change makers. A fast-paced event blends big ideas and concrete tools from your peers across the US and Canada. This is an opportunity for you to see examples of charitable leaders doing innovative -yet practical – things to make huge systems changes.

Who comes to Sharing Innovation? Attendees don’t fit into one neat box – we have nonprofit leaders, foundation staff, government officials, researchers and academics. What brings them to this event is that they all believe the nonprofit sector could do more by doing things differently – together. Sharing Innovation attendees aren’t pie-in-the-sky idealists – we’re the kind of folks that keep Tupperware at our desks for event leftovers and call it “waste diversion” (or “employee benefits”). From our seats on the front lines, we know we can make the work nonprofits do more effective and impactful.

What could you do differently? So much of the work in the nonprofit sector is limited by people who say “We’ve always done it this way. Why change?” or “It’ll cost too much to change our ways…” (For those folks, I hate to break it to you, but it’s 2019. We have driverless cars, intelligent coffee pots, and convincing chat bots…it’s TIME to rethink what’s possible.) Sharing Innovation is about seeing what others have done and inspiring change in your community.

Why Sharing Innovation is Different

Sharing Innovation is not your typical lecture style workshop. We purposefully designed Sharing Innovation to be experiential, collaborative and the starting point for you to let your mind dream big and have no restraints of what your shared space can become. Many of our workshop collaborators started right where you are. With that desire and drive to do more for your space, for your community and heck push be bold.

Sharing innovation gives you the safe space to throw out ideas, think about how you can use your space differently, what community partners can you bring in for say a monthly food bank, skill training, etc.

What if by attending you find the passion again that might have been buried by paperwork, emails, meetings, grant writing, a leaky kitchen faucet, and the list goes on?

WAYS TO ATTEND
ATTEND ONLINE OR LIVE IN DENVER, COLORADO

Attend Online

Hear all the presenters, ask questions, network with other online attendees all from your location. You might be thinking, attending an all-day event online would be a drain on the brain.  Not this time. We make sure we’re delivering you high-quality video and sound, so it’s the next best thing to attending in person. The content is engaging so you’ll want to close all your other programs and browser windows to focus in. We know you’ll have questions and get excited to ask those. Post your question and we’ll ask it live. How cool is that?

Need more social interaction? Host a watch party in your space and invite your colleagues within your organization or from around the region. This is of course on the honor system – you could host a watch party and not tell us. BUT, if you register your watch party, we’ll send you additional activities and questions that you can use to start the conversation during our many strategically timed breaks.

If you want to host a regional watch party, you’ll get a different set of activities we’ll help you spread the word with other social changemakers who we know in the area!

Built to Collaborate: Facilitating Connections in Shared Space
Wednesday, October 9th 9:00-11:00AM

This session is limited to 35 people! (Denver attendees only)

So, you work in the same space…but do you work TOGETHER?

Saul Ettlin, Real Estate Consultant with the Community Vision and Jackie Cefola, Consulting Director with The Nonprofit Centers Network, will walk you through the steps of how (mostly place-based) groups can better foster collaboration.

The session will address important questions like…

  • Who should facilitate collaboration in your space?
  • What is the importance of this role?
  • How do you decide what is the impact that you need to achieve?
  • How can the benefits be evaluated and effectively communicated?
  • How NCN can help.

With the unique challenges and benefits of working in a nonprofit center, catalyzing collaboration can be an intimidating hurdle. However, this session will provide you with the right tools to recognize how shared space really is built to collaborate.
