About the Social Purpose Real Estate Summit
The Nonprofit Centers Network is thrilled to announce the Social Purpose Real Estate Summit 2023. Join us October 24-26, 2023 in Detroit, Michigan where we will bring together community real estate professionals and practitioners interested, active, and expert in all aspects of commercial community spaces.
This interdisciplinary conference is for social purpose real estate leaders across North America; intentionally including various perspectives in the conversation. It will be an opportunity for learning from peers about best practices. We’ll hear from expert practitioners who bring skills and innovative resources for creating social purpose real estate. Together we’ll establish and grow the collaborative network necessary to create community-serving, community-owned real estate assets, so that ultimately social purpose real estate leaders can support greater impact in local communities.

What is social purpose real estate?
We define social purpose real estate as spaces that serve the common good. From a social justice angle, real estate is an effective tool for shifting power. Buildings and spaces that are owned and operated by mission-based organizations and investors for the purpose of community benefit, like libraries, parks, affordable housing, nonprofit centers, and more, are examples of social purpose real estate.

Meet the SPRE Summit Working Group
The interdisciplinary SPRE Summit Working Group is comprised of organizations from across the social purpose real estate sector that have come together with The Nonprofit Centers Network to define a vision forward for community real estate, development, and investment through the design and implementation of the SPRE Summit.

Center for Economic Development Research
The Center for Economic Development Research (CEDR) is an applied economic development unit of Georgia Tech’s Enterprise Innovation Institute (EI2). CEDR assists local elected officials, economic developers, policy makers, and community and state leaders who seek innovative tools and methods to leverage their local advantage and quality of life for their residents by attracting, maintaining, and growing business and industry within their areas.CEDR’s expertise is concentrated in the areas of strategic planning, organizational development, labor market and workforce analysis, facilitation, research, and economic and fiscal impact analyses. Through its research, CEDR helps clients understand the opportunities and challenges in fostering local and regional economic development.

Serve Denton
Serve Denton’s partners with nonprofits to help make their services more accessible for people in need. We seek to achieve four outcomes: fostering colocation through our 5 acre, 52,000 SF property; building connections between nonprofits, promoting collaboration, and growing capacity.
