We are a charity for charities.
The Jerry Forbes Centre Foundation was formed in 2012 with the purpose of embarking on a capital campaign to build Edmonton’s first non-profit centre to be named the Jerry Forbes Centre for Community Spirit. The vision became reality when the Centre opened in October of 2018.
Our shared space is guided by our belief in understanding and representing the 25 organizations that call the Jerry Forbes Centre home, and the diverse populations they serve and support.
To provide a healthy, affordable, and vibrant shared workspace for Edmonton non-profits as we dream, grow, and work together.
To create a legacy of volunteerism in Edmonton, fostering collaboration among non-profit organizations by developing a sustainable, multi-tenant centre promoting synergy, innovation, and community spirit.
What is one interesting fact about your space?
Our Centre is a repurposed fabric warehouse that is 93,000 square feet all at ground level. 43,000 square feet is professional finished and furnished admistrative space, including meeting rooms, event space, and large boardrooms. 50,000 square feet is warehouse space with allocated storage sections of between 1oo square feet and 10,000 square feet.
There is a tremendous advantage to having all the square footage on one level.
Our message is “proximity promotes collaboration”.
There is much more interaction and organic conversation between members of the organizations because they see eachother daily, walking to offices, having lunch in the kitchen, hanging out in a lounge work space, or getting a snack from the snack cart. These conversations and relationships lead to the sharing of knowledge, resources, and ideas.
