Welcome to our first newsletter on affordable workspace for
nonprofit organizations. Our primary focus is Multi-tenant
Nonprofit Centers but we will also have news and information
useful to everyone involved in creating space for nonprofits.
Dear Colleagues:
Collaborating for Success represents an emerging group
of Multi-tenant Nonprofit Center practitioners, real estate
partners, and foundation and government stakeholders. We
are dedicated to providing education, research, advocacy,
and peer networking resources on Multi-tenant Centers. With
only small amounts of funding, and much volunteer effort,
our informal group has produced two national conferences
and created the www.nonprofitcenters.org on-line
resource center.
Today, the nonprofit sector is struggling with declining
revenues, budget shortfalls and increasing demand for services,
programs and advocacy. Yet, our organizations continue to
lack the work and program space that enable us to effectively
serve our communities. For this reason, we believe it is
time to move forward in creating a national network dedicated
to supporting the infrastructure needs of the nonprofit sector.
Are you concerned about quality workspace for our nonprofit
sector? Are you involved in developing, funding or managing
a Multi-tenant Nonprofit Center (MTNC)? Here is your chance
to give us ideas and information about how a professional network
of MTNC's can best meet your needs. The survey will also enable
us to document the strategies that MTNC's use to create affordable
workspace for nonprofit organizations.
Plans are underway to convene a one-day Midwest regional conference
on Multi-tenant Nonprofit Centers. The event is scheduled to
take place in early May 2004 in Cleveland, OH. The conference
is being produced as a collaborative effort between the Collaborating
for Success Network, the Cleveland Environmental Center, the
Cleveland Green Building Coalition, and Fairhill Center. Please
let us know if you have any program ideas or local resources
to share by sending an email to info@nonprofitcenters.org.
Please also remind your project partners and colleagues to sign-up
on our mailing list to learn more about this unique event.
Our second Collaborating for Success national conference was
a great success. Held May 15-16, 2003 at the Interchurch Center
in New York, NY, the conference continues to be a "one-of-a-kind" venue
for nonprofits to explore the management, policy, and business
decisions necessary to meet the real estate needs of the nonprofit
sector.
Since the May conference, a wonderful group of volunteers has
stepped forward to steward the development of an ongoing network
of support for Multi-tenant Nonprofit Centers.
