2003 Attendees
This conference brought together individuals and organizations interested
in creating or managing Multi-tenant Nonprofit Centers. It was a source
of inspiration and practical information on how to develop, finance,
and manage real estate projects that serve the needs of the nonprofit
sector. This two-day gathering at the Interchurch Center included opportunities
to network and learn from both experts in the field as well as each other.
Projects in Development avoided recreating the
wheel by gathering resources, feasibility information, success
stories, development ideas, and advice from experts and existing centers.
Fully Operating Centers benefited from sharing common
experiences, best practices and technical expertise on the challenges
and opportunities of ongoing management at such centers.
Addition and Expansion Projects gathered new ideas and
resources for next stage financing, restructuring, or building enhancement
projects. They will also benefit from the development of an ongoing
community of support.
Developers and other Private Sector Real Estate Service Firms learned
how the nonprofit sector is a viable market for real estate development
and public conversion/reuse projects.
Foundations gained information to enhance their funding
and Program Related Investment (PRI) programs aimed at strengthening
nonprofit capacity and infrastructure.
City and Government Officials learned how nonprofit organizations
are collaborating with government agencies to leverage resources and
share strategic infrastructure.
Media found exciting success stories and intriguing public
policy issues associated with this emerging and very important nonprofit
management and capacity-building trend.
