Why learn about Multi-tenant Nonprofit Centers (MTNC)? Workspace, regardless of quality, is often the second largest nonprofit budget item after salaries. Lack of affordable space has forced many nonprofits to close their doors, both in times of economic boom and during government and funding cutbacks. MTNC's provide nonprofit tenant organizations with opportunities for cost-sharing and collaboration, as well as with services, meeting space and community venues that support their missions. These centers also provide hubs for community organizing and community economic development. Hundreds of centers have been created across the US and internationally.

Why should you attend? This briefing will both inspire and provide practical information on developing, financing, and managing real estate projects. It will include opportunities to network with and learn from both peers and experts in the field:

  • Facilities Projects in Development will avoid "recreating the wheel" by gathering resources, feasibility information, success stories, development ideas, and advice.
  • Fully Operating Centers will benefit from sharing common experiences, best practices and technical expertise on the challenges and opportunities of ongoing management at such centers.
  • Foundations and Donors will find ways to enhance their grantmaking and Program Related Investment (PRI) strategies aimed at strengthening nonprofit capacity and infrastructure, community economic development and place-based organizing.
  • City and Government Officials will learn how nonprofit organizations are collaborating with government agencies to create strategic infrastructure that supports city goals.
  • Developers and other private sector Real Estate Service Firms will learn how the nonprofit sector is a viable market for real estate development and public conversion/reuse projects.
*China Brotsky has created an award-winning nonprofit center and consulted on numerous projects. She has presented extensively across the country at workshops and conferences.

Through education, online tools, events and peer networking, The NonprofitCenters Network supports and advocates the creation and operation of Multi-tenant Nonprofit Centers (MTNC) as a sustainable infrastructure solution to meet the needs of nonprofits. The NonprofitCenters Network is a project of Tides Shared Spaces and part of Tides Network, a group of nonprofits that share a common vision for a healthy society.
